We would like to welcome our new member Peter Hincks to One Metre Barra Club. Peter caught this 1.02 metre Barramundi in Lake Tinaroo Dam. He was using 30lb braid and a $10 no brand classic trolling lure he purchased at the servo! He tells us it was similar to a Gold Bomber but had a red head. Colour probably not a factor at night but it may help you when picking up a new hard body at the petrol station. Peter released this fish promptly back in the dam. Again welcome to OMBC and congratulations!
We would like to welcome James Pettit to One Metre Barra Club with this 105cm fish. Another fish from the Daly River in the Northern Territory. James caught this fish with a Shimano Calcutta 200 spooled with 30lb braid. He used 40 lb test for leader material. Again a big congratulations to James and welcome to OMBC.
We would like to welcome Peter Bartho to One Metre Barra club with this impressive 110cm fish he caught at Port Headland, Western Australia. A live mullet was not passed up by this fish and Peter used a G-loomis Gl2 with 30lb Fins braid on Shimano Thunnus 4000 to land it. A little short of details on this one but nothing a couple of pictures will not describe better than a thousand words.Welcome to OMBC Peter!
We would like to welcome Christopher Long to One Metre Barra Club with his 108cm from Gladstone. Chris has been living in Gladstone now for a couple of years and he has been working out the Barramundi fishing when he can at any opportunity. He caught this fish while trolling on a good school of fish. Chris said that he landed a few fish in the 80cm class during an hour session and went on to tell us it was “probably the best Barra bite period I’ve come across so far!” This is a nice fish to enter OMBC with and we are also giving Chris a big shout out for protecting his spot. Here is a tip to all out there living in populated locations if you can take a photo without landmarks or markers it will help protect your spot from others. Many of the Big Barra you will see on our site have had background or adjustments made in photoshop to protect specific spots. It is not so important in the Aussie wilderness locations but we are very aware of this when posting our pictures. Thanks again Chris and welcome to OMBC!
We would like to welcome Anthony Hutchison to One Metre Barra Club with his 102cm fish from the Mary River. He was fishing with guide Justin Turk of I’ll Take Ya Fishing Charters . Thanks to Sam Wagner for submitting Hutchy’s fish to OMBC. A Reidy’s lure was the undoing of this fish and you can see the tackle at the link above to the charter operator. To write it in Anthony’s words “Justin from I ‘ll take ya fishing charters was very professional. I was elated to catch the barra, looking forward to going out with Justin again.”. Good work Anthony and again welcome to One Metre Barra Club.
Well here it is Garry Gruber’s 114cm Barramundi that was caught and released 3 days after wife Leslea’s 105cm fish. We would like to welcome Garry to One Metre Barra Club with this wonderful fish from the Daly River. Garry we don’t normally want to get in the middle of husband and wife fishing business but although your fish is bigger than Leslea’s her entry to the club was first! Just saying….. Again congratulations to you both and welcome.
