We would like to welcome Ben Green to One Metre Barra Club! This is how it goes mates. You catch your first barra in the first 15mins and it is a 101cm fish. Whamo there you are in the One Meter Barra Club! Ben from Mt Gambier in SA was fishing with Lincoln Kirby of Barra Boat Hire and Fishing Charters when he caught this fish. Be said and I quote “I was pretty bloody excited” and “I swear I could be heard in Darwin” when catching this one. Congratulations Ben. Welcome to One Metre Barra Club.
We would like to welcome Stuart Wallace to OMBC with this impressive 125cm Barramundi. Stuart’s entry places him in the seperate over 120cm catergory we have here at the club. His previous best was a 101cm fish.
We asked Stuart to tell us the story.
“After getting out of the swag early to catch the dawn service on the radio I casted a bait out into one of the tributaries of the mighty Fitzroy River which is North of Broome, WA. I was using a Shimano Thunnus 4500, Raider Spin with 30 pound braid.
Suddenly the line took off at a steady rate and when I took up the weight and sunk the hook the monster stood up ready for the fight ahead .This is a memory that will last a life time I’ve been searching for her for a long time and glad she is still swimming to fight another day. Its hard to describe my feelings but I was definitely shaking as I fought her to the bank !”
Well Stuart I think you will find many of the members will find it hard to describe that feeling when you catch the one. Particularly the BIG ONE! Welcome to One Metre Barra Club.
We would like to welcome Sarah Pearce to OMBC with this impressive 113cm fish! Her friend Ellen submitted Sarah’s entry and gave us the background of this exciting Barra capture. “We were in ‘no name creek’ at the Cato, East Arnhem Land NT. We weren’t catching any fish that day, only small cod. This turned out to be Sarah’s 4th Barra ever… all of a sudden, on the edge of about a 5 metre hole flicking with a samaki vibe, she started winding in the slack. Something bit and she thought it was just a little fish like a cod. Then the “little” fish jumped out of the water and the fight began!”
Thanks for submitting this Ellen and lets welcome Sarah to One Metre Barra Club.
We would like to welcome Ross Petfield to One Metre Barra Club with this nice 104cm fish. Ross caught this with guide Wade Allen and it was caught on a bait fishing 20lb braid. Again welcome to the club Ross!
Hi this just in form our OMBC guide Paul Dolan fishing at Kichant Dam near Mackay last night. Rob Watt joined One Metre Barramundi club with a 132cm fish on fly. Paul’s DK Dancer was the food that fooled this big barra. What a ripper! Thanks for sharing Paul and a big congratulations to Rob for an awesome Barra on Fly! Pictures speak a thousand word for this one.
We would like to welcome Rob Britton to One Metre Barra Club with this beautiful 116cm Barramundi. Rob has been thinking about catching this one for a long while and he had this to say about it. “Had another tick off the “Bucket List” on a fantastic days fishing with Ultimate Fishing Adventures, Kununurra,WA. This is where I caught my lifelong dream of a Barra over one metre. The boat skills of my guide Mick (Michael Stewart) ensured the catch and he had the knowledge to put us on the perfect spot. The Lower Ord River is where the big ones lurk. Such an unforgettable experience.”
