Stephen Watson is the newest member of the One Metre Barra club with and impressive Daly River fish of 106 cm. Stephen was fishing with his friends Craig and Katrina when he caught this fish on 31/07/11. He was trolling a Reidy’s Big Ass B52 lure on his outfit (Shimano Curado 201E7 spooled with Cabella Ripcord SI+ 50 line and a Live Fibre Territory Barra 8kg rod). Stephen backed up his fish with another of 94cm 10 minutes later. Catching this Metrey consumed three months of Stephen’s weekends and spare time but he caught plenty of 80 and 90’s as a consequence and that is not a bad problem to have. Needless to say looking at the photo he is one happy chappy! Stephen says the Daly has continued to fire after the run off and the fishing is still on! Congratulations Stephen and welcome to the One Metre Barra Club. One of our newly designed “Member Boxes” and Barramundi Pins is on the way to Darwin now.
Gary Theobald’s entry into the OMBC is with a fish right on the money. 100cm of prime Monduran Barramundi. Gary caught this fish back in 2009 on a pretty stormy day. He had this to say about it ” A massive thunderstorm went through and the fish went off their brains hitting everything we threw at them”. A Halco Scorpion did the damage and his outfit a G Loomis Crankbait 756 rod teamed with a Daiwa CVZ203 reel spooled with 30lb Power Pro.
Welcome to the One Metre Barra Club Gary!
Anne Griffiths enters the OMBC today with a ripper fish of 117cm taken on the classic Gold Bomber lure. She reeled the fish in on her Calcutta reel on the 27/03/2011 at Tommycut Creek at the mouth of the Mary River in the Northern Territory. Anne had this to say about her catch “She was a very welcome sight after a very wet night camp out in the boat. All was forgiven when she was landed. A very nice welcome back
to Barra fishing which I have not done for years.”
Well done Anne fantastic catch for someone just coming off a break from Barra fishing! Welcome to the club and keep on catching!
Joel Williams enter the club with a solid 105cm Barramundi he caught with guide Paul Dolan at Monduran Dam. He was using a 110 mm Drop Bear Slick Rig as his lure to catch this fish. Welcome to the club Joel and we know Paul has already given your pin. Please contact us with your current email so we can forward your certificate.
As the first female angler to enter OMBC, Ahsa Mahasuria does it with style with a 102cm Barramundi from Shady Camp river mouth. Not only that this was Asha’s first Barramundi. Asha said ” This is the first Barra I have ever caught, to make it even better the boys were out of luck over the weekend with only the girls catching
Barra, this one was the catch of the day!” Not only was it the catch of the day but the fish is nearly as big as her! Congratulations Asha and welcome to OMBC.
